A Brief Autobiography
I am currently the director of the orchestra and guitar programs at Largo Middle IB World School in Largo, FL. I earned my BME (Bachelor's of Music Education) from Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory in May, 2019. During my education, I studied conducting under Dr. Tiffany Chang and the violin under Dr. Barton Rotberg. I had many professional experiences; most notably, I worked as a co-educator at the Cuyahoga Community College TOP youth orchestra program and was an administrative assistant for the Baldwin Wallace Community Music School orchestra program.
Before college, I grew up in Penn Yan, NY. I started the violin in 2nd grade and have fostered a passion for exploring and sharing music ever since. Musical opportunities throughout my childhood and into adulthood have afforded me the chance to connect with countless individuals of all ages and areas of expertise. These experiences have not only allowed me to grow as an educator but as a contributing global citizen. I believe that music is inclusive, should be for everyone, and is a large contributor to social change.
In the fall of 2017 I spent a semester studying in Dublin, Ireland. While there, I focused my studies on history and sociology because music is deeply interwoven with culture. I made personal connections with individuals from all around Europe and South Asia, which enhanced my ability to work with diverse communities both in and outside of music.
I chose to pursue a career in education because I enjoy contributing to a person's growth and love seeing students take academic risks. It is my goal that while working as an educator, I will not only share the joys of music with others but help my students develop their own identity in today’s global society.
